Fornacite is a rare lead, copper chromate arsenate hydroxide mineral with the formula: Pb2Cu(CrO4)(AsO4)(OH). It forms a series with the phosphate mineral vauquelinite. It forms variably green to yellow, translucent to transparent crystals in the monoclinic – prismatic crystal system. It has a Mohs hardness of 2.3 and a specific gravity of 6.27.

Het mineraal fornaciet is een zeldzame loodkoperchromaatarsenaathydroxide met als chemische formule Pb2Cu(CrO4)(AsO4)(OH). Soms komt een fosfaation voor in plaats van een arsenaat. Fornaciet vormt groene tot gele en transparante tot doorschijnende kristallen met een monoklien tot kristalrooster. De hardheid is 2,3 en het soortelijk gewicht 6,27. Fornaciet werd voor het eerst beschreven in 1915 en is genoemd naar (1867 - 1930), gouverneur van Frans Congo. De typelocatie is in in Congo-Brazzaville.
