François Clouet

François Clouet (1510–1572) was a French painter and draftsperson who worked primarily in the field of painting. Born in Tours, he served as a court painter and worked in Paris and Flanders. His artistic output focused on the portrait genre, and he was sponsored by Catherine de' Medici. Clouet died in Paris on September 22, 1572.

His works are held in several collections, including the Städel Museum, Museo del Prado, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. One notable work is *Choix de portraits de personnages français de la cour des rois François Ier, Henry II & Françoi II*. Clouet was the son of Jean Clouet and spoke French.
