Französisch-Polynesien (tahitianisch Porinetia Farani, französisch Polynésie française), ursprünglich Französisch-Ozeanien, ist ein französisches Überseegebiet in Polynesien. Französisch-Polynesien hat eine eigene parlamentarische Verfassung (mit der Assemblée de la Polynésie française) und eine eigene Flagge und zählt nicht zum Gebiet der Europäischen Union. Französisch-Polynesien besteht aus einer Ansammlung kleinerer Inseln, Atolle und Archipele im südlichen Pazifik etwa bei 15° Süd und 140° West. Die bekannteste und bevölkerungsreichste Insel ist Tahiti. Das Atoll Mururoa, auf dem die französische Nuklearstreitmacht Atomwaffen testete, gehört ebenfalls zu Französisch-Polynesien.
