The Garganey, scientifically known as Spatula querquedula, is a species of bird within the family Anatidae. It belongs to the order Anseriformes, class Aves, and phylum Chordata. The taxon is classified as a species under the parent taxon Spatula. It is also referred to by the common names Somereend, heinätavi, and Knäkente, with the short name S. querquedula.

This organism inhabits freshwater environments and has a range that includes Indonesia, the Nanling Mountains, and Africa. Its conservation status is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List, with a 2025 assessment. However, it holds an Endangered status in certain regional contexts.
