Gawaher - whose name translates to "jewel" - is an Egyptian popstar of Nubian-Sudanese origin. She was born in Sudan, but when she was 7 years old her family moved to Cairo, Egypt. She was discovered by the Nubian singer Ali Hassan Kuban, and has since released many records. Many consider her song "Ana Laka" as her greatest hit. == Early life == Gawaher was born in Dongola, Sudan. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Port Sudan, where she spent most of her childhood and teenage years. From a young age, she showed a strong interest in music and regularly performed at her school celebrations. Gawaher holds dual Sudanese and Egyptian citizenship.
