== History == Originating in Orlando, Florida, the band was founded by lead singer Jennifer "Gen" Zimmerman while attending Rollins college. Originally called The Festering Genitorturers, the band consisted of Gen herself on bass, Marisa on vocals, Yvonne on rhythm guitar, Larry on lead guitar and Mike on drums. Their first performance was at the Ocean Club in Cocoa Beach, Florida, in late 1986. Also on the bill was Declared Ungovernable, Belching Penguins, and the Rhythm Pigs. Shortening their name to The Genitorturers, the band underwent various personnel changes and progressed in the 1990s Florida "hardcore" music scene, with contemporary bands such as Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, who also became a success in later years. According to the band's official biography, "What emerged would be a band that would go beyond shaking up the house that 'Mickey' built and extend to paving the way and breaking ground for performance based music artists thereafter worldwide".

The Genitorturers live spectacle returns to the road fall 2009 with dates in the U.S and 2010 will include stops in Australia, Europe, UK and South America! “We wanted to make a big rock record that translates the same excitement I felt when I heard AC/DC’s Highway to Hell for the first time, combined with the dark intrigue of Alice Cooper’s Welcome to My Nightmare,” says Gen of the new release. “We wanted something that shakes the walls, grabs you by the balls, and scares you a bit in the process!” Mission accomplished, as Blackheart Revolution combines the band’s signature, genre-bending style of aggressive rock, seductive metal and underground electric pop. Co-Produced by David “Evil D” Vincent [Morbid Angel] and Scott Humphrey [Motley Crue, Rob Zombie, Ozzy Osbourne], the album is a roller coaster ride of musical twists, sonic turns and reckless abandon. They caught the ear (and eye) of legendary music industry magnate Miles Copeland, who signed the band to their first deal on his I.R.S. label, where they joined the ranks of fellow Copeland signings Gary Numan, The Go-Gos and R.E.M. The lead single from Blackheart Revolution, “Cum Junkie,” is currently available via digital release, as well as in limited-edition, 7-inch vinyl. From their beginnings as upstart mavericks, to their current status as veteran iconoclasts, the only boundaries the Genitorturers know are the boundaries that they shatter. Originating in Orlando Florida, Gen gave birth to the concept of Genitorturers while in college studying pre-med. The Genitorturers cut their teeth, honing their music and live show initially in the early 90’s Florida “Hardcore” music scene. What emerged would be a band that would go beyond shaking up the house that “Mickey” built and extend to paving the way and breaking ground for performance based music artists thereafter worldwide. In 1993 the band caught the ear of Miles Copeland owner of IRS records, who had discovered and created careers for acts like REM, GoGo’s, The Bangles, Concrete Blond and STING. He was drawn to the band whose live shows were becoming infamous regionally and quickly sent his assistant Nick Turner ( former drummer for Lords of the New Church) to Florida to check out the band. Upon witnessing the power of the bands live show which included a music style which crossed over from hardcore punk into metal with industrial electronic elements, the band was offered a record contract and set out to record “120 Days of Genitorture”. Since their 1993 IRS Records debut release of “120 Days of Genitorture”, the band has been covered by many high profile media outlets. Television coverage has included features on VHI, Fox News, Hard Copy, HBO’s Real Sex and Playboy TV’s “SEXCETERA”. With over 5,000 pages of articles, recent printmedia coverage has included a feature in Gene Simmons “Tongue” magazine and 12 pages in Hustler magazine.. the ONLY multi-page spread EVER with a rock band.
