Die Regie führte Arnold Laven, der gemeinsam mit das Drehbuch schrieb. Der Film erzählt die Geschichte des Apachenhäuptlings Geronimo, der den Aufstand seines Stammes nach dem Ausbruch aus dem Indianerreservat San Carlos anführt.
