Mit Songs wie Love to Love You Baby (Donna Summer), I Feel Love (Donna Summer), On the Radio (Donna Summer, aus dem Film Jeanies Clique von Regisseur Adrian Lyne), Call Me (Blondie, aus dem Film Ein Mann für gewisse Stunden von Regisseur Paul Schrader) oder Cat People (Putting Out Fire) (David Bowie, aus dem Film Katzenmenschen von Regisseur Paul Schrader), für die er die Musik geschrieben und die er produziert hat, wurde er in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren zum Starproduzenten mit weltweiten Hits und über 100 Gold- und Platin-Schallplatten.
