Glen Milborn Sherley (March 9, 1936 − May 11, 1978) was a country singer/songwriter, who is most well known for penning the song "Greystone Chapel". During the late 1960s, whilst in Folsom Prison serving time for armed robbery, Sherley wrote and recorded "Greystone Chapel", in reference to the chapel within the prison. On January 12, 1968 a copy of this recording made its way into the hands of Johnny Cash by way of a Folsom Reverend who was friends with Cash, the night before he was due to appea
