Grifola
Sign in to saveGrifola is a genus of fungi in the family Meripilaceae, which includes some edible fungi such as Grifola frondosa, commonly known as hen-of-the-woods (or maitake in Japan); not to be confused with Laetiporus sulphureus, known among English speakers as chicken of the woods. The genus was circumscribed by Samuel Frederick Gray in 1821.

Grifola Gray (żagwica) – rodzaj grzybów z rodziny wachlarzowcowatych (Meripilaceae)[1]. W Polsce występuje jeden gatunek[2]. Systematyka i nazewnictwo Pozycja w klasyfikacji według Index Fungorum: Meripilaceae, Polyporales, Incertae sedis, Agaricomycetes, Agaricomycotina, Basidiomycota, Fungi[1]. Synonimy naukowe: Cautinia Maas Geest., Cladodendron Lázaro Ibiza, Cladomeris Quél., Merisma (Fr.) Gillet, Polypilus P. Karst., Polyporus trib. Merisma Fr.[3] Polska nazwa pojawiła się w pracy Stanisława Domańskiego i in. w 1967 r. W polskim piśmiennictwie mykologicznym należące do tego rodzaju gatunki opisywane były także jako huba, żagiew i wielogłówka[2]. Gatunki Grifola acanthoides (Bull.)
