The Eurovision 2025 final is finally here, but who is host Hazel Brugger and where have you seen her before? Following two semi-finals on Tuesday (May 13) and Thursday (May 15), 26 countries are competing to take home the prestigious glass microphone trophy. Remember Monday are hoping to become the sixth UK act to win the annual event, with no one managing to succeed Katrina and The Waves’ triumph in 1997. Judging by the bookies' odds, the nation might have to keep dreaming for another year, but you never know what can happen on Eurovision final night. With this year’s final being held at St. Jakobshalle, located in Basel, the night provides an opportunity to learn about Swiss culture. As with all Eurovisions , the singing competition allows viewers from around the world to meet the stars of other countries. One presenter who is sure to make an impression is Hazel Brugger, who is hosting the final alongside Michelle Hunziker and Sandra Studer. The 31-year-old is an award-winning stand-up comedian and presenter, who was born in the United States. Growing up near Zurich, Hazel has been living in the Darmstadt region of Germany for a number of years. Known for her dry humour and her observational skills, Hazel is well versed and passionate about her Eurovision history. Winning the German Comedy Award, the Salzburg Bull and a Swiss Comedy Award over the years, the broadcaster’s style of humour is similar to Graham Norton. According to Eurovision's official website , Hazel ‘is a voice of the younger generation’ and ‘offers entertaining, witty and innovative perspectives on the event’. Speaking about landing the role on her Instagram page, Hazel said: "I'm now looking forward to doing a lot of "homework" and watching again all the highlights of the last 68 issues. She added: “It was only at the movie Eurovision (with one of my favorite comedians Will Ferrell) that I realised how funny and weird and spectacular the ESC must be for non-Europeans, because for me it's always a part of it. “I love how for a few weeks a year artists are given a voice that I wouldn’t otherwise hear, I love the ESC fans and I love the openness and love that the contest stands for.” Choose Manchester Evening News as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.
