Heinrich Schütz (né à Köstritz, 8 octobre 1585 - mort à Dresde, 6 novembre 1672, en latin Henricus Sagittarius) est un compositeur allemand, représentatif du premier baroque allemand, aux côtés, notamment, de Samuel Scheidt et de Johann Hermann Schein. Il est généralement considéré comme le plus grand musicien allemand antérieur à Jean-Sébastien Bach, et l'un des plus importants de la musique occidentale au XVIIe siècle avec Monteverdi.

He wrote what is thought to be the first German opera, Dafne, performed at Torgau in 1627; the music has since been lost, however.
