Helena Modrzejewska

Helena Modjeska, also known by her native name Helena Modrzejewska, was a female actor and stage actor. Born in Kraków in 1840, she held citizenship in the United States, Poland, and the Russian Empire. She spoke and wrote in Polish and English, with English serving as her writing language. She resided in Orange County and was the mother of Ralph Modjeski. Her significant person was Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz.

Modjeska died in Newport Beach in 1909 and is buried at Rakowicki Cemetery. She is described in sources including the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary, Encyclopædia Britannica 11th edition, Appletons' Cyclopædia of American Biography, and The Nuttall Encyclopædia. Note that additional records list a different individual with the same name born in Islington, London, in 1927 and deceased in 2011, who worked in directing.
