Based on the book Cheer: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders by journalist Kate Torgovnick, the series focuses in the lives of college cheerleaders, mainly Marti Perkins (Aly Michalka), a pre-law college student who has to join the cheerleading team, the Hellcats, in order to get the athletic scholarship she needs. Hellcats (No Brasil Hellcats - Líderes de torcida) é uma série de televisão do canal The CW, do gênero comédia e drama, estrelada por Ashley Tisdale, Aly Michalka, Robbie Jones, Heather Hemmens e Matt Barr que estreou em 8 de setembro de 2010. Baseado no livro Cheer: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders de Kate Torgovnick.Hellcats conta a história de uma estudante de direito (Aly Michalka) que tem seu mundo abalado quando perde a bolsa de estudos e para garantir uma nova, tem que entrar para a equipe de líderes de torcida. A série também mostra os bastidores do drama, política e pressão ao redor do programa de futebol americano em uma universidade da região sulista. Em 18 de maio de 2010, foi anunciado pelo The CW que o piloto de Hellcats havia sido escolhido para a Fall Season 2010-11. A série vai ao ar às quartas-feiras, após o programa America's Next Top Model. Após janeiro de 2011 a série será apresentada às terças-feiras. No Brasil, a série foi exibida pelo canal pago Boomerang cuja estreia ocorreu no dia 27 de junho de 2011. Dia 17 de maio de 2011, o canal The CW confirmou o cancelamento da série, não foi divulgado o motivo do cancelamento, porém acredita-se que seja devido a baixa audiência nos últimos episódios.
