Der kleine Ort Hellnar liegt am Fuße des Snæfellsjökull auf der Südseite der Halbinsel Snæfellsnes. Er gehört zur Gemeinde Snæfellsbær und besteht aus einigen Bauernhöfen, einem Hotel, einem Kaffeehaus, das im Sommer offen ist, und den Ausstellungsräumen des Snæfellsjökull-Nationalparks.
