==Taxonomy== The Smith et al. classification of 2006, based on molecular phylogeny, placed Helminthostachys in Ophioglossaceae. Subsequent classifications have maintained this placement. The PPG I classification assigns it as the sole member of the subfamily Helminthostachyoideae.
