Hepatica (nombre común: hepática) es un género de planta herbáceas perennes de la familia de los ranúnculos, Ranunculaceae. Son plantas verdes de tamaño pequeño en forma de costras, éstas se encuentran en los bosques húmedos y en cortes de terrenos que se mantienen bajo condiciones muy húmedas y sombrías. Reciben el nombre de hepatica, del griego hepar hígado, por la forma del gametófito, (que en algunos géneros recuerda a este órgano). La forma del gametófito en estas plantas puede ser laminar o estar formado por cauloides y filoides. Las hojas son basales, de color verde oscuro y coriáceas, cada una con tres lóbulos. Produce flores hermafroditas de febrero a mayo que pueden ser blancas, púrpura-azuladas o rosas; nacen solitarias sobre largos tallos vellosos y sin hojas. Las mariposas, abejas y escarabajos actúan como polinizadores de esta planta. Algunos botánicos incluyen al género Hepatica en una más amplia representación de la anémona, como Anémona hepatica.
