Heringen ( German pronunciation: [ˈheːʁɪŋən] ; also: Heringen/Helme in order to distinguish from Heringen in Hesse) is a town in the district of Nordhausen, in Thuringia, Germany. It is situated on the small river Helme, 8 km southeast of Nordhausen.
