Hernio (; also spelled Ernio) is an iconic summit in the Basque Country very popular with the Gipuzkoans and located right at the heart of the province. The peak is the highest point of a massif extending north-west to south-east, the summit rising by the pass of Zelatun. Neighbouring summits lined up NW to SE at the range are mount Gazume (997 m) standing west across the summit and mount Herniozabal (1,200 m) closing the range east at the rear. El monte Hernio (también conocido como Ernio aunque la Real Academia de la Lengua Vasca (Euskaltzaindia) no recomienda esa última ortografía) tiene una altitud de 1.078 m., conforma un macizo de roca caliza entre los ríos Urola y Oria en su curso bajo, ya cerca del mar pero en el centro geográfico del territorio histórico de Guipúzcoa en el País Vasco (España). En la cumbre se divisa un panorama impresionante que tiene al norte la costa con Orio a sus pies. La cruz mayor que corona el monte es el referente para un vértice geodésico de primer orden.​
