==Taxonomy== Formerly, the circumscription of the family Hippolytidae included several additional taxa that have now been transferred to Bythocariidae, Lysmatidae, Merguiidae, and Thoridae. As of June, 2023, there are 16 genera recognised in the family Hippolytidae sensu stricto:
