Howard C. Berg

Howard C. Berg (1934–2021) was an American physicist, biologist, and biophysicist who worked as a university teacher. He was educated at the California Institute of Technology and Harvard University. His professional career included positions at Harvard University, the California Institute of Technology, the University of Colorado, and Leiden University. He conducted work in Cambridge and received his doctoral degree under the supervision of Norman Foster Ramsey.

Berg was a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society. He received the Max Delbrück Prize in Biological Physics and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He was also recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Berg was born in Iowa City and died in 2021 from lymphoma due to natural causes.
