Tido pela crítica como o melhor filme de Mae West,, juntamente com outra produção da atriz, She Done Him Wrong, ajudou a Paramount Pictures a sair da crise financeira em que se encontrava. Repleto das frases de duplo sentido ou simplesmente engraçadas (Beulah, descasque uma uva prá mim), que fizeram a fama de Mae, o filme teve problemas com a censura, que seria efetivamente implantada no ano seguinte.
