Instinet (Institutional Investors Network, ou « réseaux entre investisseurs institutionnels ») est un courtier en actions américain créé en 1979 à New York, racheté en 1987 par l'agence de presse Reuters, qui l'a fait entrer en Bourse en 2001 après un changement de réglementation boursière aux États-Unis, avant de céder sa participation au Nasdaq américain en 2005. Instinet est l'une des premières plates-formes de marché de gré à gré (s'effectuant sans l'intermédiaire de la Bourse) ainsi que la première plate-forme de négociation électronique sur les actions des sociétés, mise en place deux ans avant le Nasdaq.
