Merbau (Intsia) ist eine Pflanzengattung in der Unterfamilie der Johannisbrotgewächse (Caesalpinioideae) innerhalb der Familie der Hülsenfrüchtler (Fabaceae).Das sehr harte und glatte Holz mit dem Handelsnamen Merbau (Intsia spp., auch Kwila oder Borneo Teak) ist eine der wertvollsten, langlebigsten und gewinnbringendsten Tropenholzarten, deren natürliche Vorkommen in den meisten Ländern erschöpft sind.
