Ipswich ist eine Stadt im australischen Bundesstaat Queensland und liegt im Landesinneren etwa 40 km südwestlich von Brisbane am Bremer River. Die Stadt ist gleichzeitig ein lokaler Verwaltungsbezirk mit eigener Verwaltung (Ipswich City Council). Bedeutung erlangte Ipswich vor allem durch den Abbau von Kalkstein, später auch von Kohle und Erzen. Durch Schafzucht und die Wollindustrie wuchs die Siedlung zur Stadt und durch die Nähe zur Metropole Brisbane hat Ipswich heute über 300.000 Einwohner. Ipswich unterhält seit 2011 eine Partnerschaft mit Wenzhou, China
