L'iride è una membrana del bulbo oculare di colore variabile, con forma e funzione di diaframma, pigmentata, situata posteriormente alla cornea e davanti al cristallino. Insieme al corpo ciliare e alla coroide forma la tonaca vascolare dell'occhio. Ha la forma di un disco circolare ed è attraversato dalla pupilla, un'apertura circolare il cui diametro può cambiare proprio grazie ai movimenti dell'iride.
