Jacques de Lacretelle

Jacques de Lacretelle, born Amaury Gaston Jacques de Lacretelle in 1888, was a French writer and novelist. He wrote in French and was educated at Lycée Janson-de-Sailly and the University of Cambridge. His notable works include *Le demi-dieu, ou, Le voyage de Grèce*, *L'ame cachée*, *Face a l'evenement le figaro 1826-*1966*, *La Bonifas*, and *Silbermann*. His writings are held in the collection of the National Gallery of Art.

A member of the Académie Française and the French Social Party, he also belonged to the Croix-de-Feu. He served as president of the Académie Française. His literary achievements earned him the Prix Femina, the Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie française, and the Grand Prize for the Best Novels of the Half-Century. He was also made a Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour. He died in the 16th arrondissement of Paris on January 2, 1985.
