Jean Hamburger

Jean Hamburger (1909–1992) was a French physician, writer, researcher, and essayist. Born in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, he was educated at Lycée Carnot and the University of Paris. He worked for the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research and was a member of the Académie Française, the French Academy of Sciences, the Académie Nationale de Médecine, and the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium.

Hamburger received the Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour and the Prix mondial Cino Del Duca. His notable works include *L'aventure humaine*, *L'Avenir de la science vu par vingt-sept membres associés étrangers de l'Académie des sciences*, *Petite Encyclopedie Medicade*, *Physiologie de l'innervation rénale*, and *Pathologie médicale*. He was the father of Michel Berger. Hamburger died in the 18th arrondissement of Paris and was buried at Montmartre Cemetery.
