Jennie Abrahamson is a singer-songwriter from Sweden. Jennie har tidigare hörts i triphopbandet Heed och altcountryakten Yukon AK, och bakom akter som Di Leva, Kristoffer Åström, Tomas Andersson Wij och Isolation Years. På hennes solodebut "Lights" möter vi ett ganska otraditionellt singer/songwriter-sound, de har sökt efter ett större, dansigare och krispigare ljudlandskap än vad som normalt tillskrivs genren. jennieabrahamson.com →Swedish pop chanteuse Jennie Abrahamson is back with Reverseries, a stunning ten track collection of unique, ethereal pop songs that deal with intimacy, relationships, humanity and love; an emotive, interpersonal compendium of issues close to the heart. The record is out February 24th 2017 on How Sweet The Sound. Reverseries is the follow up to Abrahamson’s 2012-released breakthrough Gemini Gemini , a record that earned a handful of major industry accolades in Sweden including Indie of the Year at Manifest Awards and a nomination for IMPALA’s European Indie Album of the Year. The record also earned acclaim on the international stage, especially in the UK, with a number of publications commenting on Abrahamson’s songwriting and musicianship; The Guardian describing her vocals as “hypnotic” and “crystalline”. Following the release, Abrahamson and her band toured extensively through Europe including support tours with Peter Gabriel and Peter, Bjorn and John, an experience that shaped the sound of the new record. Together with her long-term studio partner Johannes Berglund (Amason, Shout out Louds, Owen Pallett, The Knife etc) and the rest of her band, they set up a goal to try and maintain the energy and the warmth of the sound they had created live on the road. “On this album I’ve both gone deeper within myself and further out than before. ”Reverseries” is interpersonal relations, both to the people we consider our close ones and to the ones we often talk of as ”the other”. How much do we dare to let in the ones who are closest to us, how much do we dare to love and be vulnerable? With the state of the world as it is today – politically polarised and severely tested – can our built-in humanity remain? Can we see ”the other” as ourselves? Indeed, we must. The times are challenging, but we need to find love within ourselves, dare to share it with our closest ones and let it spread beyond our own cells and circles to the very many who are in deeper need today. I do believe these are historical times, and though it’s challenging I believe we have a chance to make a difference to the better, if we don’t resign to fear, hatred and only caring about our own safety and well being. Love and spread love.” The music is confident and welcoming, all driven by an indisputable voice that has taken more and bigger space for every record. From her solo debut in 2007, Jennie Abrahamson has developed a sound that has evolved record by record; music with the ability to evoke clear images in warm colours, that mediates exact feelings; songs from different perspectives, that tie together personal experiences and unvarnished reflections with sharp observations of the surrounding world. She started out young in the northern Swedish trip hop band Heed, who released two albums on EMI. When kicking off her solo career with the firstling ”Lights” in 2007, she founded her own label and has worked independently ever since. While ”Lights” dealt with changes and goodbyes, her critically acclaimed sophomore ”While the sun’s still up and the sky is bright” (2009) was a New York love story that was released in all of Europe and put her on the map outside of Sweden. ”The sound of your beating heart”, with the hit ”Hard to come by”, was released in 2011, and she toured extensively. Upon homecoming, she started wondering if there was anything besides or beyond music she wanted to do. She took a break to start studies in psychology, but in the summer of 2012 she was recruited to be part of her childhood idol Peter Gabriel’s touring band for the anniversary of his album ”SO” (Jennie’s favorite) and felt like that surreal event was like the universe pulling her back into music. She did 5 arena tours throughout the world as part of Gabriel’s band and as supporting act, the last one a co-headline with Sting. During her time with Gabriel she released ”Gemini gemini” (2014), an explorative album that rendered her an ”Indie of the Year” award at Manifest (Swedish in
