Aus dieser Zeit verfügt die Stadt noch über verschiedene Gebäude, etwa dem Abba Jiffar-Palast. Die heutige Stadt Jimma wurde am Fluss durch die italienischen Besatzer in den 1930er Jahren gegründet.
