Jimmy Carr was born in Slough, Berkshire to Irish parents and was educated at Burnham Grammar and later at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe where he achieved 4 A grades at A-level, before going on to receive a 2:1 degree in Social and Political Sciences from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. James Anthony Patrick Carr (born 15 September 1972) is a British and Irish comedian. He began his stand-up career in 1997. He has regularly appeared on television as the host of Channel 4 panel shows such as The Big Fat Quiz of the Year (2004-present), 8 Out of 10 Cats (2005–2021), and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (2012-present). Carr is known for his rapid-fire deadpan delivery of one-liners and often controversial and edgy dark humour.
