Jimmy Ward first picked up a guitar at the age of 10 and began taking lessons from his father Bill Ward. Jimmy played mainly Bluegrass flat-picking for the first few years of his musical life, learning the styles of guitar players like Tony Rice and Dan Crary. Jimmy also picked up the banjo and mandolin to round out his bluegrass instrumentation.
