Also known as Johann Samuel Schroeter
German pastor and naturalist (1735–1808)
Johann Samuel Schröter was born around 1752 probably in Guben. Both Johann and his sister Corona Elisabeth Wilhelmine (1751-1802) were pupils of Hiller in Leipzig. He settled in London, where Count Brühl was his patron. Here he befriended Johann Christian Bach and became a popular teacher. When Bach died in 1782, Johann became music master to Queen Charlotte and later he held an appointment to the Prince of Wales. The Schröter family was a family of musicians. <a href="https://www.last.fm/musi
