John A. Rogers

John A. Rogers is an American chemist, physicist, university teacher, and designer. Born in Rolla in 1967, he holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree and has been educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Texas at Austin. His professional career includes positions at Bell Labs, Northwestern University, and the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign. His work focuses on nanotechnology, materials science, chemistry, and mechanical engineering.

Rogers is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has received the MacArthur Fellows Program award, the Eringen Medal, the Benjamin Franklin Medal, and fellowship in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His notable works include *Nonlithographic and Lithographic Methods of Nanofabrication*, *Semiconductor Nanomaterials for Flexible Technologies*, *Silicon Nanomembranes*, *Stretchable Bioelectronics for Medical Devices and Systems*, and *Unconventional nanopatterning techniques and applications*. His works are held in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
