Johnny Kemp was an R&B and dance music singer and dancer born in Nassau, Bahamas. According to the Just Got Paid Songfacts, he moved to New York as a teenager in 1979 to front a group called Kinky Fox. In the '80s, he became part of the club singer scene, where he met Teddy Riley. He hit #10 on the Hot 100 in 1988 with the Riley-produced "Just Got Paid." The song also went to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
