Hij was trainer van onder meer Real Madrid, FC Porto, Internazionale, Chelsea (twee keer), Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur en AS Roma. Mourinho tekende in november 2019 een vierjarig contract als hoofdtrainer bij Tottenham Hotspur. Op 19 april 2021 werd hij door Tottenham Hotspur ontslagen.
