American politician, Representative from Pennsylvania and United States District Judge (1770-1842)
Joseph Hopkinson (November 12, 1770 – January 15, 1842) was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania, and later a United States federal judge. Hopkinson arranged Philip Phile's "The President's March" with lyrics and titled it "Hail, Columbia". It was first performed at the Chestnut Street Theatre on April 25, 1798.
