Joy Williams

Joy Williams is an American novelist, essayist, and writer born in Chelmsford in 1944. She holds citizenship in the United States and speaks English. Her professional career includes positions at the University of Arizona, University of Florida, University of Houston, and University of Iowa. She received her education at the University of Iowa.

Williams is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her notable works include *The Pelican Child*, *The changeling*, *La rastra*, *State of grace*, and *LOS VIVOS Y LOS MUERTOS*. She is recognized in the American Academy Arts Sciences collection.
