Kenyapithecus is een geslacht van uitgestorven primaten, die in het Midden-Mioceen in Oost-Afrika voorkwam. In Kenia zijn fossielen gevonden aan de rand van de Great Rift Valley, teruggewonnen uit aardlagen, die 15,5 tot 14 miljoen jaar oud zijn. Kenyapithecus is een neologisme. De naam van het geslacht is afgeleid van de plaats van ontdekking in Kenia (Engels: Kenya) en van het Griekse woord πίθηκος (oud-Grieks uitgesproken píthēkos: 'aap'). Kenyapithecus betekent dus 'Kenia aap'.
