Khaled Mattawa

Khaled Mattawa is a Libyan poet, translator, writer, and university teacher born in Benghazi in 1964. He speaks and writes in Arabic and English. His professional work focuses on poetry and Arabic literature. He has taught at the University of Michigan and California State University, Northridge. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship, was named a MacArthur Fellow, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Mattawa was educated at Indiana University, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Duke University. His notable works include *Al-Ghurfa 211, Volume B*, *Shepherd of Solitude*, *Beyond Memory*, and *Adonis*. He is also associated with the *Michigan Quarterly Review*. His work is recognized in the Macarthur Fellows collection.
