==History== thumb|left|19th-century view of the Saint Andrew Church Kleczew received town rights in 1366. It was a private town administratively located in the Konin County in the Kalisz Voivodeship in the Greater Poland Province of the Kingdom of Poland. A route connecting Warsaw with Poznań and Dresden ran through the town in the 18th century and King Augustus III of Poland often traveled that route. According to the 1921 census, the town had a population of 2,744, 87.1% Polish and 12.7% Jewish by declared nationality.
