皮革(ひかく)とは、動物の皮膚を生のまま、または、なめしてあるものを指す。動物から剥いだ皮膚を皮、皮から毛を除き、なめして得られる製品を革といい、生皮から革までを含めて皮革と総称する。毛皮は毛をつけたままなめしたもので、広義には皮革に含まれる。 人工的に作られた人造皮革(人工皮革と合成皮革)と区別するため、動物の皮膚をなめしたものを天然皮革(てんねんひかく)や本革(ほんがわ)ということもある。皮革の中でも元々生えていた体毛まで利用するものは毛皮 (Fur) という。
