Leonid Leonov

Leonid Leonov (1899–1994) was a Russian playwright, writer, journalist, and prose writer who worked in the Russian language. Born in Moscow, he began his professional career in 1920. His literary output includes works such as *Chariot of Wrath*, *Soviet river*, *The Thief*, and *Road to the ocean*. Leonov was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and held citizenship in the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and Russia.

He received several high honors, including the Stalin Prize, the USSR State Prize, the Order of Lenin, and the title of Hero of Socialist Labour. Leonov was also nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. He served as a member of the USSR Union of Writers, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Leonov died in Moscow and is buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery.
