★ 5.5Lindenstraße is a German television show on ARD's Das Erste, one of Germany's two publicly administered TV channels. The first episode was aired on 8 December 1985 and since then new episodes have been broadcast weekly. Its current timeslot on Das Erste is Sundays at 18:50. The events of the Sunday episode usually take place on the Thursday before the show, based on the TV station's original plan of airing the episodes Thursday night. Prior of the start of the show, the timeslot was switched to Sunday evening but the Thursday remained the day the events usually take place as the show shall feature the daily life routine of the protagonists on a working day. Exceptions are the so-called holiday episodes that take place on Sunday, such as for Christmas and Easter and also on important election days. Setting the pace for other soap operas in Germany, the first episodes were met with mostly bad reviews. However, Lindenstraße soon became one of the most successful shows on German TV.

Lindenstraße é uma drama serie série de televisão alemã produzida pela estação de televisão pública Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) e a empresa Geißendörfer Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH do produtor e inventor da série , sendo exibida no canal Das Erste da ARD. O primeiro episódio correu em 8 de Dezembro de 1985 e a partir dessa data, a série foi emitida semanalmente (sempre aos Domingos às 18:50 h). O milésimo episódio foi exibido em 30 de janeiro de 2005. Lindenstraße tornou-se rapidamente uma das séries de televisão mais bem-sucedidas da Alemanha, o que se deve principalmente ao facto de a série interpretar a vida diária de gente comum e dos seus problemas. Além disso, a produção tenta desde o início, relatar assuntos actuais da sociedade alemã, como por exemplo a reunificação da Alemanha, as guerras da Ex-Iugoslávia e do Iraque, racismo, cancro, AIDS, o casamento gay, entre muitos outros. Local de acção é a cidade de Munique, mas as gravações ocorrem nos studios da WDR em Colónia-Bocklemünd.
