Lone Pine ist ein census-designated place im Inyo County des Bundesstaats Kalifornien. Das U.S. Census Bureau hat bei der Volkszählung 2020 eine Einwohnerzahl von 2.014 ermittelt. Er liegt im Owens Valley auf einer Höhe von 1136 m unter der Ostflanke der Sierra Nevada am Fuße des 4418 m hohen Mount Whitney, dem höchsten Berg der USA außerhalb Alaskas. Die Ureinwohner des Owens Valley waren Paiute-Indianer. Sie wurden 1860 zwangsumgesiedelt in ein Indianerreservat beim 200 km südlicheren Fort Tejon. In der Anfangsphase der Stadt war sie ein Versorgungszentrum für die umliegenden Farmer.Zwischen 1942 und 1945 wurden nördlich des Ortes im Manzanar War Relocation Center im Rahmen der Internierung japanischstämmiger Amerikaner bis zu 10.046 Internierte festgehalten.
