==Taxonomy== The genus Lophospiza was introduced in 1844 by the German naturalist Johann Jakob Kaup with Falco trivirgatus Temminck as the type species. The name combines the Ancient Greek λοφος (lophos) meaning "crest" and σπιζιας (spizias) meaning "hawk".
