Luigi Dallapiccola (February 3, 1904 – February 19, 1975) was an Italian composer known for his lyrical twelve-tone compositions. He was born in Pisino, Istria (current Pazin, Croatia, but part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire back then), to Italian parents. Unlike many composers born into highly musical environments, his early musical career was irregular at best.
