==History== The suburb developed in association with the Risdon Zinc Works, established in 1916 by the Electrolytic Zinc Company of Australasia (EZ), part of the Collins House group of Anglo-Australian mining and metallurgical firms. To attract and retain workers, EZ implemented an industrial welfare scheme that included the construction of a housing village on land at Risdon and Bowen Road. Planned in consultation with Melbourne architect Walter Butler, the development was inspired by garden city principles and featured around 60 poured-concrete houses in the Arts and Crafts style, together with weatherboard and brick dwellings. Streets such as Cook Street, Cox, Furneaux and O’Grady Avenues retain some of these houses, which are regarded as rare examples of early twentieth-century company housing in Australia.
