L'M109 è un semovente d'artiglieria di produzione USA. Introdotto nel 1962, ha una grande torretta con 28 colpi, motore anteriore, uno scafo in alluminio che offre una certa protezione dalle armi leggere, un peso di 23/28 (a seconda delle versioni) tonnellate; porta un obice leggero con un grande freno di bocca con canna corta da circa 23 calibri, con una portata di 14 km. Può guadare un fiume fino a 1,8 m di profondità: con un kit aggiuntivo, che richiede una lunga preparazione, può affrontare profondità superiori. Il mezzo è stato largamente modificato per tenere il passo dei progressi tecnologici.
