Daarnaast werkt hijmee aan televisieproducties en hoorspelen. In 2016 kreeg Hensema de K. Ter Laanprijs voor zijn voorstellingen Mijn Ede en Mijn tweede . Deze prijs wordt sinds 1985 door de stichting 't Grunneger Bouk tweejaarlijks toegekend aan personen of instellingen die zich verdienstelijk maken op het gebied van de Groningse streektaal en cultuur.
